Potential Oil Tax Impacts in Northwest Wisconsin

The petroleum industry is a major part of our economy in Northwest Wisconsin and provides many good paying jobs;

Superior is home to the only fuel manufacturer within the State, and the Superior Refinery struggles to compete against much larger out of State rivals;

Fuel manufacturers and distributors operating in Wisconsin, and providing jobs to Wisconsin residents should not be put at a disadvantage relative to out of State competitors.

The citizens of Northwest Wisconsin therefore request:

• That any new taxes imposed on petroleum products be done in a manner that is not detrimental to the manufacturers and distributors operating in the State of Wisconsin.
